drawing tank brojob piece is making me slowly realize i draw as an act of service, in the sense of, well, similar to polishing boots.

it can be (and is often) a simple transactional capitalistic service, with the shoeshiner being content at the money and a job well done. this would be when i'm pleased at a corporate storyboard or non-kink comms. satisfaction at professionalism is a high.

but you got the other end of the spectrum, when you REALLY lean into the M/s power tilt where bootblacking is an act of service approaching an act of worship. it can be a generalized act of worship almost to a muse - think leathermen polishing boots at folsom for the joy of that headspace .... - vs for some, the specific act of worship to a master in the flesh. i'm intentionally rendering tank brojob piece in that headspace (wanting to make it 'feel' like your eyes are worshiping the boots) and yeah, it's a 1:1.

brain wires go bzzzt quite pleasantly, needless to say.
(... cute, M/s could also be to a muse.)

anyway. boy does it explain when i'm not 'into' a piece that it feels like pulling blood out of a stone. i'm technically good enough i can always finish it but hooo boy it is A Righteous Pain if i'm not feeling that service. very interesting connection made, that. I can definitely look back to past artwork and see when i was/wasn't feeling it.

the bootblacking comparison (for me) also neatly overlaps in terms of, yes, the artist is actively ... responsible for drawing. there's a technical mastery (lol service, also) and willingness to sit down that matters. but i've had enough times where a higher level of shit i could never get to with the conscious mind alone that ... is *channeled* through me out of a higher plane. service as a conduit. this gets woo embarrassingly fast but you get how the bootblacking metaphor works creativity.

the bootblacking "for" matters as much as the artist, put crudely, even if it's near invisible for everyone else.

you can also see where my thoughts on AI images would be considering it'd be like your boots got a car-wash by a machine. almost offensive with the complete lack of soul/service even if there is technically an image output. :v
