tl;dr all of these scenes really, really came together when challenging myself to a fucked up bingo board of *how many* tropes at the same time i could manage. :3 keeping them at 500 words was easily the hardest part and in hindsight i'd give myself 1000 words because you can fit in a little more of the build-up and ruminations.
Captor!Naesala+(begnion senator) / Prisoner!Leanne
was mostly just doodling mangled/naked leanne at first until it hit me to draw naesala "and" a random begnion senator and then the power dynamic tilt wildly changed right on the spot, with a fully formed story right after. this was both one of the first pieces of arts and stories i did.
technically naesala purchasing leanne to free her from a slaver is not that far off from what he does in path of radiance, but when you add in the layers of horribleness one by one of 'what if the senators already fucked her and/or mutilated her b/c he found out too late' 'what if leanne was trying desperately to plead for help, any kind of emotional warmth from naesala and he couldn't let a smidge of reserve escape because otherwise the whole mask would just, shatter on the spot and he'd rip the senator's throat out right there'... i like pain i guess :v
Prisoner!Stefan / Prisoner!Vika
it was genuinely fun realizing that both of them being prisoners wasn't a typo, as it allowed a totally different kind of desperation than the power tilt of the others. since i'm also interested in the messed up possibilities with laguz loosing their powers when conceiving by beorc, the idea of that threat hanging over vika but totally implied/unsaid and then stefan *knowing* it was a unique area to play in. stefan's also got the right amount of reserved distance and calculated violence to be able to play his part but weirdly, kinda, be the lesser of two evils for once here in all of this?
this was, i believe, the second story written; also a pretty easy one where both characters kinda wrote themselves with having an unique way of talking.
Prisoner!Leanne / Rescuer!Volug
this one also probably doesn't seem like much going on the surface with the piece of art until you notice leanne's pregnant, which is intentional. her trauma being overshadowed until you really look and go 'ohhhh hell' - i may have also been inspired by the requestee's mentions of leanne's possible private fears of pregnacy and just the sheer weight on her shoulders as a legacy there.
writing volug ... took a while. he started to click when I started thinking of him as a man who exists primarily in the present and feels severely uncomfortable elsewhere (imo as shown when he didn’t really want to learn the new common tongue until nialah showed him. He was nailah’s fang, and so the idea of ‘oh shit leanne’s pregnant via rape’ totally blue screen of death's his whole worldview and how he reacts to stuff because there’s nothing To Do that can fix it. And there’s the horror of loosing the shapeshifting side – since he prefers his wolf form more than most there’s a double sort of disquet, almost.
Captor!Izuka / Prisoner!Micaiah
you guys have no idea how close i was to drawing izuka dick just to say i drew izuka dick lol. part of me is still tempted to, but ultimately it'd distracting from the general idea of the fic/concept, so in the author's notes it goes instead.
i could absolutely see izuka having a twin kind of revulsion-desire interest in micaiah, but framed in the sense of wanting to break her like he broke the laguz. I sorta RP a character with my gf (mama weiss) that's a mad scientist lady who operates in the same kind of completely depraved mindset; the actual interesting part is what it would take to break micaiah especially since she's exceptionally willful? he'd basically have to break her mind and make her into a doll and i'm pretty sure he throws in the feral one potions at her for the lulz to help it along.
izuka also channeling hypnosis-y dark magic through micaiah's tit/clit chains was kinda borrowed from ironically, the same RP, but also from this series of novels jim butcher did where it was like, pokemon plus this roman legion au? the books weren't great but there was some effed up hypnosis-y earth magic in one book that you could tell he wrote with one hand in his pants and ngl was pretty ... hot..... fucked up but hot, given it was an owner using said magic with a collar mindbreaking another slave into submission. always wanted to poke at that with a stick again.
something i mentioned in a comment was 'man do you think soren thought Real Hard about the feral one potion and what it'd do to a branded after seeing gritnea tower' because boy howdy that's giving me some delicious horror brain worms rn.
Captor!Zihark / Prisoner!Lethe
this was hard to come up with (last piece of art drawn) since i was poking at what kind of headspace of zihark's would not feel stridently OOC other than the obvious 'zihark rescues lethe and there's a slow burn with sex'. which was rejected b/c that's too easy and a cop out, i wanted something really. viscerally, stomach-turning wrong and fast.
him wanking it while imagining himself taking prisoner!lethe is. yeah. a lot of people are likely going to say that's still ooc as hell but sex fantasies are out there and there is something to the whole 'getting a boner for the thing you hate (as an act) /fear the most' thing. that may or may not have been a headcanon for a long time.
there was also not a small amount of me musing on how it fucking sucks having kinks that you don't want to have, know that too well. think that's when this really came together with that maybe-sympathy at the same time as disgust and the eros.
also tl;dr: shit's messy!

Volug brought out a lot of her... i want to say, easiest, most blunt? thoughts, it feels; like she doesn't need to be as prim with him as most, so it was a lovely area to be able to be introduced to her despite the heaviness of the themes.
(And oh! Was trying to be vague with your handle since i wasn't sure if you were trying to keep the Ao3 handle separate or not. XD Do you want me to credit your tumblr when I post the art/fic there too, or leave it as the Ao3 name? :D happy to go either way. )

Date: 2023-06-30 03:24 am (UTC)I don't mind if you mention it here, but I'd say not to credit it on tumblr while I'm still kinda deciding how separate I want my ao3 to be from everything. i'm thinkin' i'm gonna tweak my username on ao3 eventually too, unify it a little bit, but that's a problem for future me to puzzle out.
