the current hyperfixation of the week is "painting" ps1/n64 graphics (again) whence i joined a related server for three seconds to ransack their tutorials channel. :P  linking the links i saved below because i know i'm gonna regret it if i forget them
  • ps1 css graphics - (universal website building) hellaciously fun css code where you can make ff7-ish menus and text boxes for your site.
  • ultimate retro shader collection (for godot, demo) looks like a goldmine if/when i get back into gamedev.
  • crocotile (low poly tile program for win/mac/linux) kind of reminds me of blockbench* (all platforms) for making/painting pixelated enviroments in a vagrant story way. straight $30 for the full version, though blockbench is free. might compare/contrast the two for what's easier.
  • NTSC-CRT renderer (windows only, but linux build is on the to do list)- possibly the only emulated version of this effect that managed to nail it. creator's clearly done the science research about how the effects happen.
  • duckstation 3d screenshot (ps1 emulator, win/mac/linux) one feature of this ps1 emulator is the ability to take 3d screenshots of any scene and export as an obj file. :o recently discovered, so i bet we're gonna be seeing a lot better ps1 environments as obj files soon.
  • gLideN64 scene ripper / tutorial (plugin; works best with RMG emulator)- same thing for n64, includes vertex lighting; forum link there also has an excellent example with the MM boss room. :3
  • comic book production bundle (for krita) is not ps1 related but i'm eye-emojing the screentones/effects in particular since i need more variety.
  • just in case if i haven't linked heavypaint here... (all platforms) - painting software radically different than any other; forces you to think about the basics.
* i used blockbench extensively for about a month two marches ago in a fever dream thinking i was gonna make a low poly game. lol. lmao even. did learn a lot about game dev tho!
