i had a FE dream right before i woke up that was like this ... old, old 90's saturday cartoon thing - more anime in style, but like you were seeing it on an old crappy CRT screen (I adore)

and it was Micaiah, some of the other Dawn Brigade (Leo? Volug?), and Zihark getting captured and tied up by bandits v important detail lololol (maybe laguz bandits? idk) near the Desert of Death and I distinctly remember watching it with somebody else who played the game, maybe it was queenlua and we were both yelling at the TV all 'omg Sothe wouldn't be such a dumbass to get captured except HE'S IN THE DESERT!"

and both of us being like, jokey-mad at them because Zihark especially had a few lines about sticking to his principles (you... fucking.... dumbass god bless)  and actually was given a choice to be let go (fuzzy on if Micaiah had that too).

that was a fun dream, 10/10, more plz

a meta essay on Jill's arc(s)

I've seen a lot of folks mention how Jill's character arc in PoR was fabulous and a whole reasonably-nuanced thing on learning how to grow past ingrained prejudices and nationalistic upbringing,

These same folks often turn around and say her character arc sucks/regressed in RD.  On the surface, i can see why - she goes from tentatively and then genuinely making friends with Lethe to suddenly fighting against the Laguz Army without hesitation or self-examination. However, I'm going to disagree. In this essay, i shall-

( tl;dr - Jill's RD arc is still about escaping the human impulse of tribalism, just in a more subtle way. )

anyway Jill's interesting, and a very "real" character to me (similar to Zihark), and i feel like most people don't give her RD self enough credit. :v
