KOTOR II loveblog (p1)
Aug. 1st, 2022 10:00 pmSo I played KOTOR ages ago in college on my mac, forgot about it for like, a decade. Good game, definitely reminded me of why I loved that era of lucasarts so damn much, ultimately settled as "solid as hell game but not in my top 5 favorites" tier that you kinda forget over time.
... until i started dicking around with steam again with my new shiny ubuntu laptop now i can play games again. :D;;
I've heard a lot about KOTOR II especially since my circles tend to be legends / mando'ade (or anti-jedi) flavor, and given how critical of the Force this one game seems to be. Dare I say, going into it somewhat blind, it feels like this is the repcomm of SW games, as far as willing to be critical of SW's favorite tropes, at least the heroic ones that aged less gracefully?
Anyway, first KOTOR i played a darksider f!Revan who was bff's with Canderous Ordo and HK47. God i loved the murder rampage on the sith tombs XD
This one, I've installed that one famous mod that re-added all the ending content, currently playing a consular on the dark side track. kinda keeping my eyes open if there's any delicious skeevy as hell lesbian vibes between Kreia and the Exile (listen.... i know what i like....). Still on Peragus, but very quickly remembering exactly how to play a KOTOR game; I may not even need to shift into easy mode. Just recruited Atton who's not making much of an impression on me yet, but ah, it's only the first chapter, I'll try not to judge the man too hard. :P
Honestly, right now I'm just marinating in how nostalgic this is making me feel for Taris, that one fustrating chapter that went on and on and on when I was playing it, but now it feels so much fun in hindsight in the sense of a totally different era ...
I also really love the low key survival horror vibes Peragus is giving me; feels like that one DLC ME3 survival horror chapter that actually managed to skeeve me right out. Empty, abandoned, corpses everywhere, possessed droids -- hell, you woke up after realizing you had a lethal injection in the bacta tank and wasn't supposed to survive. Both that and the crash landing.
Like shit, this is what I'm here for. You against the cold hard galaxy, teeth bared.
