link pile : chillin' visuals
Dec. 15th, 2022 06:29 pm- The Architecture of Sound : one of the parts in disco elysium (the game) that still lives in my mind is when there's a small-side quest to figure out what the heck is up with a metaphysical part of a long-since dead church. this photo project that follows up on the fractal acoustics of churches feels like it was one of the main inspirations for that moment. if nothing else, visually and STEM-wise, it's a treat.
- k96.jp is one of the coolest web 1.0 art pages i've seen in a long time. it's mostly a gallery site for bishies ( :D ) but the skeumorphic designs gives it such a quirky, warm, inquisitiveness that has me clicking around for the fun of it like a treasure chest.
- A few artists I love in the twitter exodus went to weibo and I was concerned that that site couldn't be followed by a RSS reader. After some digging around, I learned that RSSHub has made its mission to be able to generate feeds for every kind of site, and it indeed works on weibo! :D Most sites that artists are on (tumblr, twitter, artstation, weibo, pixiv, mastodon, self-hosted blogs and portfolios, substack, behance, nhentai, etc) work with RSShub; the one glaring exception is instagram.
- James Gurney is a painter most known for his work creating Dinotopia, a fantasy series that fueled many a 90's kids obsessions with dinosaurs (yours truly included). Turns out he's been blogging faithfully all this time on Gurney Journey with tons of physical paint tips and a sense of warmth and kindness that's rare in many places these days.
