Mar. 10th, 2023 01:26 pmyou know you're a nerd when you're vaguely considering buying a rack for your apartment to store the router, pi-hole, extra laptop for the pet project to make into a linux hosting server, backup drives .... :'D
while this missing e-keycap isn't fixed yet, i did get in contact with S76 who can fix it ... but the laptop has to be shipped all the way to colorado which is 2 weeks of not having a drawing laptop, boo.
to make matters more interesting, this laptop needs a firmware update, and it'd be a good time to upgrade to the latest LTS version of ubuntu. basically the two most complex, demanding type of "low level" updates one can do to a computer short of reflashing it entirely. naturally this has me a bit nervous. (I've done a firmware update on my mom's ubuntu, but that was basically before she put anything on it, so it was effectively risk-free.)
( that said, i think i have a plan. )
