Jul. 8th, 2023 02:01 pmif you visit my journal page, it's going to look a lot different; i'm attempting to mimic the layout from 80.style as a dreamwidth css layout versus javascript, and eventually will share the results as a shareable/downloadable css document. in theory, you should be able to set your journal with the standard "tablu rasa" style and download my modified css and instantly also have the same look; i'm also commenting the heck out of the code since it was a bit opaque before.
reminding me of how much fun it was to make custom tumblr themes; I always got annoyed with how "cluttered" dreamwidth themes were in comparison.
the verdict is it's ... going! i'm really proud of the progress over a single night: cleaned up the layout, made the navigation links easily modifiable, got pretty close to the font, line spacing, font colors, and such without getting too deep into the minor aesthetic tweaks. i also applied the image filter (did not even know that css had image filters!). mentioned in tempural's server that the greatest fun is reverse engineering a different project a la "how did you do that?". knowledge is power.
what else ... signed up to bluesky as a backup should say, tumblr shit the bed. had a moment of getting wigged out by the twitter vibes before I realized I was inadvertently trying to make my profile into another art/animation/webcomic shill. deleted half the posts and just threw up a few doujin WIP's with minimal context, and felt much better.
really feels like i'm happiest when my handle "face" is straight up just, pretty boy scribbler. which isn't demeaning, by the way. been there with the webcomic/convention endless treadmill, zero desire to get anywhere close to it again. (it's probably why my mastodon has been so chill and inoffensive to me mentally; it's been nothing but a wip slash shitpost dump).
i hope your saturday is going well. :)
