Apr. 21st, 2024 04:54 pmcheekily, I don't know if the pisces in me but every few years I get a need to re-invent? redo? the curated mass artwork i have that exists online. like a snake outgrowing and shedding skin.
last big one was when I quit IC. i feel another one hitting since i'm deleting a ton of stuff on tumblr especially pre-2020, and there's the website revamp going on too. it's not in the sense of what "looks good" per se, it's a sense of... what makes me feel trapped or insincere, versus stuff that still actually hits emotionally, personally. i've heard from![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
lukadian about doujin culture that a lot of JP artists use different handles for their different "eras" for pretty much this reason.
(if you're concerned about scooping up deleted art, this mediafire link has it all from 2011-2020, and i'll probably make a new one for 2021-2025 next year. i've made peace with this being a compromise.)
I do miss how deviantart handled old art/their "scraps", though; there was a text-only button a little out of the ways that was a folder for all the old art/doodles/stuff you didn't want people to see instantly. it reminds me a lot of how Ao3 handles orphaned works, and both of those methods feel like a better way to handle that skin-shedding (though at least with tumblr the reblogs will always exist).
