Sep. 17th, 2024 07:59 pmi cannot tell you how much i am sincerely enjoying doing these latest short ~10pg sequential strips.....
was murmuring the 'moisturized & unbothered' meme to myself semi-jokingly last night, but that's really how it feels.
these all feel like they ladder up to some purpose - usually a full-fledged print doujinshi i've always ached to realize into the world (some doujin ideas literally since i was what, sixteen?) - but they're not long enough that i feel like i'm dying inside with being chained and drowning to One Thing for five+ years. (or worse- the whole online identity warped to being known for That One Thing).
and yet they're just long enough i'm forced to learn new artistic tricks and endurance i never had (and never would have been able to learn if i only stuck with one off illusts), they're long enough to actually tell a whole ass story, and they're so far removed from what's trending on social media that i don't feel FOMO at all. i can just peacefully queue a few random WIP's, and then chuck the whole thing out there every few months and basically ignore the rest of the internet. it doesn't feel forced at any part of the process - just draw a panel or two every night peacefully depending on what i'm in the mood for (clean-ups versus drawing something from scratch). and by the time i'd naturally start getting seriously tired of the thing (2-3 months), it's basically done.
at least for my specific can of brain worms, it's the sweet spot of artistic length. <3
anyway, real proud of where this latest one is going. i think this one's going to get printed in some way after all.
