the trust involved of laying your body on a table to be mechanically dissected in a way, the warm coverings being turned down to expose specific parts of the body. (surgery's warmer than most people think, at least these days). it's one of the few events where one's explicitly aware of inhabiting the Flesh; not in a sexual sense, but the body as pulleys and levers and tendons to be unstuck and what needs to be mended or looked after. truly feeling that calibration in unavoidable firm touch that's both cold and warm. how thin the veil is between pain and pleasure in the sense of muscles unclenching, of bones snapping back into place, the flinch that's both welcome and not.
you could also see the trust as a loaded gun to be disassembled - fully placing that mechanical-vulnerable trust in Another, of being dissassembled and stripped and cleaned by competent hands. of testing working order, testing functionality but also as a ritual of sorts between the-thing-to-be-bared and the hands that know how to re-assemble it, and takes pride in a job well done.
connections!
