Hahaha, that was actually queenlua that brought Art&Fear to both of our attentions XD but 100% agree with ya on the vibes of that book as you mentioned there. it's not too kitschy or cloyingly emotional but it does make a point of actually sitting down with the reader about real fears. really nice stuff.
'spiritually grounded' is totally a vibe off of his work here, so it gladdens me that you see that in his students as well. :) there's def some merit to the criticism, but these days there's such a wealth of other texts out there to hear from more specific scholars laser-focused into their cultures, so it's almost the best of both worlds.
