kradeelavi had a moment in the last few weeks of realizing 'oh wow, oh dang, path of radiance's been out for 18 years??'
which was, if i'm being completely honest, was more framed as 'goddamn... i've known zi for that long (over half my life at this point). wow. damn that's cool. <3"
he got me through that long drought in every creative's career where your work is more ... hobby-esque and slowly flexing the #gainz into something more reminiscent of intentional skill and style.
but.
there was also a christmas, at grandmothers, with the tablet precariously perched on this table while i was trying to avoid family, a long time ago (2011-ish? which tracks b/c it was right when FE13 released), where ... it just came out of nowhere, but something clicked about drawing characters together in basic dialogue and interactions, wheras before it was usually just the basic 'single character standing, facing the camera dramatically' or more rarely 'busts of two characters staring blankly at the camera dramatically'.
and the first ship i drew, back then, tentatively, privately, and for the longest time was the selfshipper nonsense (lovingly).
this chunk of art was pretty close to that era, actually, like my very first 'oh shit this is fun' exploration there, versus just being in my head, in dA notes roleplay,or a novel length fanfiction that will forever stay in wrinkly old yellow notebook paper in binders that i was writing in every spare minute in high school. eventually i branched out into repcomm fandom, and comics and, hell, stuff y'all probably learned about me through. but to add insult to injury i owe him for that too -- that sense of actually adding sentience and charisma and life to my drawings versus just pretty pictures. x)
anyway i was feeling a little melancholy/sad about the state of the world and GUESS WHAT is a fix, horrifically sappy shipper nonsense, heh.
