kradeelavthere are a lot of things i don't like about the internet these days, of course.
but one of the things i do like (and there's ironically, a lot! genuinely love the new crop of creativity and action-focused community I'm already seeing with the breakup of web 2.0 sites, for one, and how it spans across many sites) - but one of the things I do like
is how open, and .... earnestly carefree? selfshippers are now. i keep seeing them in the corners in my usual haunts now, and smile every time.
i can't put my finger exactly on how, when, and where things changed, except i don't remember ever seeing them even five years ago. and it was always with this taint of ... a cautionary tale of when it went wrong, or the dynamic tweaked enough that it could pass as OC's for passing reasons (i dig OC's, don't get me wrong, but like specifically here out of survival-guilt), or selfshipping thought of as immature or anything except baby's first hasty tricycle creative experiment, or painted as the whole mary sue bs, or the only acceptable kind being in RPG's with character creation, or, or or- I can go on a long-ass list here.
idk it's just ... really nice lurking on such a tumblr with a similar chill vibe to me n' mine, and getting it.
it's like releasing a breath of tension you hadn't realized you've been holding for two decades. i don't think i'll ever be truly comfortable with it out in the open (I am. a very private person, with much less vulnerable topics, much less this lol), but it's nice not to be alone in this very specific creative sense.
makes the heart a little more tender. here's to you, selfshippers, from an oldie, and the flames we carry.
