RSI update as i'm playing with different things:

* brace didn't work, alas. got it last week and i wore it for 5 minutes, and then a 30 minute chunk after that as a test just doing normal stuff and it did not feel good after. ("crunchy" wrist, some of the old phantom pain coming back.)  i'll still keep it for a different kind of injury (i can see it being useful for a splint) but it ain't this.

* generally doing a bunch of stretches throughout the day; nothing excessive but keeping the area from getting stiff.

* also doing the hemp lotion. it feels slightly better in the moment but no noticeable 'speed up the healing' vibes.

* i tried drawing for a timed 5 minutes yesterday (since it was roughly 2 weeks since i cold turkey stopped drawing). the good news is the specific lancing wrist pain didn't come back. the bad news is the wrist felt crunchy/sore for the rest of the evening. -_- i couldn't even make it five minutes ugh. (without sounding meldramatic its. uughh. not great! for the brain worms to realize that this is more of a 'wow hip replacement level months-length of recovery' than your standard 'tendon or whatever feels bad for a week'.)

* that said i just discovered the cold/hot ice immersion treatment off of this animator's article (figuring that animators are the people most likely to run into this specific RSI from drawing vs typing). and holy SHIT. this might be what works? only did it one time for both wrists now and it felt. so good. my wrists were kinda crunchy this morning and it zapped that instantly. o.o i might try that 3-5 times a day or basically whenever it starts feeling like that. promising, and the dude said it really helped speed the recovery, rather than just feeling good in the moment. i might give it three more days of no drawing and then try the 5 minutes again after doing the cold/hot treatment so there's a concrete benchmark to compare/contrast.

i know so many people have it worse (i can still type after all), and this is first world problems but i gotta. i gotta draw man. it ain't a negotiable, or i'm going to start tearing out feathers metaphorically.

You know, I wonder if something like this can help with my tennis elbow thing, I’ve tried a cortisol shot from the doctor and have been prescribed a daily pain medication which works for the duration of the day but wears off by the evening/bed time and it’s noticeable and I’m not too sure what if anything will truly help the recovery, but it’s definitely been impacting both my daily life and makes drawing on my screen tablet tiring (especially frustrating since I’m trying to get back to drawing and to properly use the whole range of my arm for best practice).
