an overlord lording over unicorn overlord'ing
today was a 'krad is an absolute potato sleeping and playing unicorn overlord' kinda day. :D
it's fun! i'd say i'm about 3 hours in. about to help angel lady out on her quest.
* it is so similar to fire emblem. gameplay wise it took me maybe an hour to get used to the gameplay and i'm already brrt-ing through things fast enough i'm debating on turning the difficulty level up. (might not be helped by the fact i gave josef the rune sword so he's being my magic battering ram so far lol). also feels oddly similar to age of the empires II what with the slight focus on resource extraction as well. "gameplay loop" is fun enough this will most likely keep me engaged the whole way through; i needed something vaguely tactical for my afternoon hour of gaming after a workday for next week.
* story-wise it feels quite similar to fe7 with a side of fe9? "exiled lord gathering archetypical troops to re-conquer their previous nation conquered by somebody who's vaguely mind controlled". while the execution mechanic is kind of cool (and normally i would be the sadistic player going the evil route) it's being hindered by me wanting to recruit every vaguely-recruitable greasy looking dude brought to you. :v
* lol at the queen's defeat, she's totally coming back mind control'd. (she's kinda hot tho ngl). double lol when i was already making eyes at josef (the jagen) in the opening cutscene and there was a 10 year timeskip where he got even hotter. /horny bonk
* i think my only two very minor complaints is the protagonist (marth-lookalike whose name i can't remember) is kinda ehhh and it's not quite as fucky as i like my games to be; but then again i was so fucking spoiled by fates that i'm not going to let it overshadow decent enjoyment. (besides there is the mind control bits that stand a good chance of being a plot-relevant issue.)
feel free to mention if you think there's a character that is Krad Bait along with your favorite and i'll do my best to make a beeline for them. :p
