I really enjoy how open DW is to everything. There's hobbies I don't have time to pursue, or just am not interested in, but I'm enjoying hearing about them. I think it creates a better worldview -- I am annoyingly against getting in a social media echo chamber / bubble, because I WAS in one of them once upon a time, and it is very damaging to your hobbies, worldview, critical thinking skills and ... brain. lol. I like seeing the varieties of people around here.
True! I don't think Hellsing could ever be remade for a variety of reasons, but mostly... ppl would get pissed because there are Nazi characters who are faceted. Like the Major! He has charm! He has wit! He is also a nazi, unfortunately! I remember Jojo Rabbit, I saw it when it came out and it had sympathetic nazis (like a gay ish one) and when people talked about it they HAD to yell that "First of all, I don't like nazis, I do not condone them, BUT i like X about Y character"... Like JFC people we know Nazis are bad, there's no need to virtue signal before you discuss a character. Like I like Schrodinger, does that make me a Nazi sympathizer? Woof.
I get kinda heated about that stuff admittedly. I'm anti-censorship like you, pro-leave-people-alone, so that kind of sanitation of media in an attempt to make it palatable grinds my gears. Thinking about it ... I can't think of any older anime that wouldn't get cancelled, actually...
