You noting the merging of the "worst of both worlds" (oh buddy, for sure) actually reminded me of several comments I've seen pop up in different platforms. Specifically Bluesky and Twitter, where folks say that if either one goes down permanently, they're not moving anywhere again. They're just going offline permanently. Which is interesting to contrast with the usual post that goes around of how millennials seem to be the only ones adept at constant website change and adapting to "okay FINE, we'll move to a new place." I feel like both aspects are true and untrue--plenty of millennials have refused to leave twitter lmao, and a lot of the people on bluesky seem ADDICTED to being online on a place like bsky. But I almost feel like...if something BIG happens? We might return to tradition, reject society. Another separation, how it will look, IDK. But that's a big if; my pessimist side thinks most people say they want to be offline, but can't grok being offline for more than two weeks.

I know of heysawbones! Used to follow them on twitter. Somehow not surprised they'll have seen similarly. It's...certainly a pattern if you visit certain circles. My own POV is also founded on the linguistic/sociocultural mix as well (mostly linguistic). There's a lot folks don't notice when it comes to speech patterns!
