Jun. 9th, 2026 08:55 pmwatched the pilot of the amazing digital circus today out of sheer curiosity since i needed some distraction.
* actually liked it more than i thought i would, but not really enough to keep watching. idk. not saying no, but i'd have to be bored.
* the animation is actually really damn good. possibly the first 3D cartoon that didn't make me think 'oh i recognize that stock pixar gesture' every thirty seconds.
* i completely understand why caine gets all of the Incredibly Bonkers Off the Wall porn. not my flavor of character but i can see how he'd give people the fun tingles. :D
* pommi (main jester looking character?) gives me the same energy as the eponymous toaster in brave little toaster of 'wait you're a girl????' after the first pronoun drop lol. something about the character design reminds me of toaster too (square-ish face, big eyes, black bang type of thing?); would not surprise me if that was in the list of the creator's main inspirations.
* the overall flavor of the show is the kind of surreal that one would get as an eight year old playing one of those janky CD-ROM licensed games like toy story 2 (or mario 64) and being let into the gameshark/mod/glitchy area unsupervised to have adventures completely unrelated to the actual game and then dreaming about it later, mixed with a touch of the 90's animation surrealist humor.
* overall it feels tight/well made in terms of story and character, just think i'm interested in a different kind of media right now.
