behold: priorities
Dec. 2nd, 2020 10:23 amI might have mentioned to y'all how I use inoreader as my dedicated RSS reader / scraper that effectively replaces tumblr/twitter/going to every site. Kind of high-key saved my sanity this year.
Anyway, re-organizing the sites from the previous "tumblr bucket" "nsfw art bucket" (meaningless when I don't go to them) to something that better fits priorities (something something working my way from top to bottom in various degrees of "bored") -
and i am very happy with my names lol :D

i should put 'krad go read a book, you'll be happier' above the last one lol

Date: 2020-12-05 10:11 pm (UTC)Basically, it's inoreader (https://www.inoreader.com), and it works basically exactly how you described it. RSS readers have been around since pretty much the dawn of the internet to be a "hub" for blog/site updates, and the newer ones these days can grab social media posts. Inoreader can grab and collect basically any kind of blog and tumblr feed for free; though you do need to buy the pro plan for twitter feeds specifically.
(i am probably the last person to do subscription stuff, but what made me pull the trigger on paying for this is the ability to *really* curate each individual twitter feed so it ends up as "literally just art posts and no text/retweets, no seriously, there's a specific filter for that") godsend for those handful of artists you want to keep following but get so irritated with off topic posts.)
something that's an unsaid advantage too, is that i don't feel afraid that others are going to "mine" who/what i follow and use it as a weapon for a callout? i like getting sources from a wide variety of people; doesn't mean I agree, but you still learn something, and so it's a fantastic way of being able to a) collect those articles/posts, and b) also be able to sort them into a different bucket based on headspace.
all in all, it's a nifty piece of tech that dodges a lot of social media's anti-patterns, personally.
