something i completely forgot about until a few nights ago was my Tellus OC's. Two Begnion loyalists (one blueblood beorc, one exiled ex-hatari laguz), side pieces to a RP decades ago between self inserts, and still ironically probably the strongest part to that era.

I'm toying with what I'd change about their backstory vs now - Akone and Akira, to me, feel like Sephiran's personal handymen. The Volke to Greil, if you will - the Executioner and the Mad Dog - meant to take care of things that never would become a problem for Empress Sanaki to be bothered by. (And unknowingly, start setting in motion the chess pieces that Sephiran wanted to place.)

(Also playing with their designs a bit)

Akone was always a vaguely germanic templar/paladin type and begnion noble; true lawful good, infantry lance guy with a knack for light magic, and a faintly sarcastic sense of humor. Akira was more of a laguz enigma as I always saw him outright exiled from Hatari decades ago for something he never really elaborates on (he had his tail cut off as punishment, much like hands are for thieves in some parts of the world).  The most he'll say is Akone found him in a fighting arena (he's always been beserker-ish themed, "Mad Dog" and all), brought him outright, freed him, and along with being pressed for service as another oddball handyman, introduced him to some truly stellar sights, snacks and lays. :P

(Akone stridently denies the last part.)

Worldbuilding-wise, begnion natives and senators are mostly just ... moderately confused at Akira's existence around the temple and always with Akone, mentally (and prematurely) writing him off as entertainment of a sort. Which is a deliberate mask on both of their parts - both of them do a lot to disrupt the Begnion slave trade from the Senators even way back when that was ... highly unpopular. I also see/saw them hunting down unauthorized dark mages and spirit charmers gone rogue, partially explaining why there were so few during the events of PoR/RD; and also showing them they weren't exactly bloodless pacifists. (The old RP went into spirit charming a bit with the main characters so there was always that real sense of 'are they temporary allies or not-' tension.)

Hypothetical wise, I always saw them as the type where if Micaiah didn't personally take out Jarod, Tormod would've called up these two as the big guns along with their personal guard. (That kind of messy "we have to keep this internal or else everyone else will think we're weak politically but I can't trust anyone except folks that Sephiran trusts" vibe.)

Other trivia: Both of them were very, very gay (almost exclusively for each other). Akira more tehnically bisexual but they were always an item way back when (interestingly - my first gay ship right out of fundie-ism along with titania/petrine, so there's always been a fondness there.)

brought to you for my undying appreciation for grumpy old farts and twinks as archetypes. : P
