reading quotes by the Stable Diffusion creators has me a bit :l because they're talking about the labor of art as a tool when literally that's "why" I create art. The joy is in the creation, not the end piece. Completely anti-ethical to my approach combined with the inhuman insincerity.
i don't care about spammy AI-generated art as much as I do the effects of "how" art is transmitted. Already seeing a lot of artists who are withdrawing from the internet, and how it'll fracture artist communities in a big way. creating "friction" of effort to avoid art being scraped/generated-proof feels like the name of the game which ironically fits in real well with my plan of printed books + zines packed with sincerity and small runs lol.
Definitely if by December I don't strongly feel different, I'll perma-delete all SM accounts. At this point I'm only holding out to promo Falke. so far this feels like it'll be twitter, tumblr, masto ... probably artstation/dA too if i can ensure nobody else can camp on the handles.
ironically i've, separately, been considering making this dreamwidth part of the website as a diary much likelukadian has his. that way there's the WIP logs ... the physical zines as the main location of art, and then "this" when i have a long form text thought (much like the joy of old dA journals). hilariously it's all arcing back to the three elements i loved most about deviantart in the 00's. that, to me, was peak joy of posting art online.
lord ... this internet's a different beast. i'm tired of fighting it. very ready to burn the bridge.
edit: don't panic if the username suddenly shows as 'kradeelav' instead of 'walonvaus' and a few other minor profile / aesthetic changes happen - i haven't been hacked. :) setting up a hopefully painless transition to be the diary on the site.
