* made space in the schedule for a field trip to go visit a real life Blackbird SR-71 in january at an air force museum literally not an hour away from a grandparent's house that I NEVER KNEW EXISTED?? and i am still vibrating at finding that out lmao. literal new-year's present to myself, i can't wait. taking my Skunk Works book that i'm having a blast reading right now because it really captures the technological impossibilities that were involved in making that beauty. ( < great book if you're an airplane nerd. )
(a little known fact about me is i was the only girl in the middle school aviation club lol. still have fifteen thousand clippings of newspapers from the early 00's when the F-22 was just being talked about).
* randomly realizing that i bounce off hard at a lot of design trends (whether it be print/digital/fashion/etc) because i literally don't know what I'm looking at? or at least don't even have the faintest idea of the context of the thing - a lot of "trendy" projects these days feel like they don't even feel grounded in a regional/cultural take or an era take, or a "use" take - it's just a blob of shape and color that always looks good for social media which makes me feel soul-queasy. idunno. gonna think about this more.
* finished up this art? therapy? sort of thing that i'm still sort of 'hmmm-ing' over because there was a lot of personal baggage that were tackled in a short amount of time. i sort of vaguely knew i had an issue Deliberately Not Feeling Things but didn't, uhhhh,,, realize it went a little too far, whoops. :D;; stuff like that where it's easy to get blind to ... guilt? soul scabs? and forget to let them heal properly.
* finished mom's memory book which was the last project-a-month thing for this year's resolutions, so I'm getting ahead with a half-done hellsing zine about bootblacking (given it's about alucard bootblacking for integra for the first time when she puts on her uniform as a "knight" and coming of age gesture. it's a super cool collision of iddy metaphors in only the way that hellsing can do - had to delete all the old art because it was ... old as balls .. but excite about the new stuff.
* aiming to get inbox-zero in both my emails, physical letters, and dreamwidth by christmas! :D been on a slight manic cleaning frenzy that's been helped by the art therapy sorta loosening things about guilt and it ... actually feels nice? i have no idea how long i'm going to be able to maintain it but i'm closer than ever been before, hoo-ah.
