Nov. 30th, 2024 11:20 pmwould it be Extremely Metatextually Annoying of me to complain i honestly find people-who-bitch-about-linux-types far more annoying these days than the actual linux extremists lol
(thus perpetuating the complaining cycle i know :P)
maybe part of it is i don't know enough genuinely passionate linux users, aka the kind that create the legendary open source drama (part of that is by design of how i structure my friend groups, i admit). i think also part of it is the moderate linux user (hopefully, me?) knows better than to pipe up when people are having a good bitchfest, like sure, it's needed sometimes, and a lot of the ...... shall we say uber power users don't always have the conversational delicacy or awareness there.
but!
at the same time it's like.... mate. where is your sense of curiosity, man. dicking around computers is fun and at the end of the day the OS did not personally bite you on the hand. (i also want to say stallman did not personally shit in your bed...............)
(and there's also the .... like... don't let the stereotype be the enemy to filthy casuals like me, you know? i do hope by me occasionally talking about linux in places it's not generally mentioned it gradually opens the windows to more fandom chicks like me who go 'oh hey this isn't that intimidating wtf are you on about'. being a part of that gradual spectrum from (open source dramallama) <-------------------> (krad is here) <-> (linux n00b) since i always thought having a robust, resilient spectrum for any interest or ideology is desperately needed to avoid it fracturing or having worrisome cult-like dynamics.
