kradeelavthere is a very tired post in me, of the constant struggle to not throw down a metaphorical steel chair on some twitter people's heads.
I've only caved ... once in recent memory? (it was a pretty harmless 'so block me too lol' snark) but as soon as I start, i know deep in my bones i won't be able to stop. [insert quasi-tasteless jokes about aries moon and/or addiction in the family. both are true]
maybe some people can be on social media indefinitely and resist. they are better people than me. (there is a reason i went on twitter hiatus specifically, and am hovering my hand over the "delete" button as soon as the majority of FALKE copies are mailed. even un-hiatusing for the last two months of marketing purposes only has been draining, and yes, yes, yes, i know all the various tweaks to step away from SM. it doesn't work. it's what made me cold turkey hiatus to begin with.)
what always brings me back from the brink though, is, forgive me if this sounds self-aggrandizing: my people (kink artists, zine circle & co) need me more than a random teenager deeply mired in their own pain and lashing out to hear a voice. I am doing a net good for the world, by reserving energy for being there with my people who need my work and presence, or by being a presence away from keyboard, doing kindnesses for others, both seen and unseen.
not only that, you don't de-radicalize people by QRT dunks. you need trust. (see: my family, for one). you need saint-like kindness even when folks Say Shit you internally wince at, you need a set of social tools that can look for kindness, commonalities among people across ideologies, and an intent to bridge instead of divide.
god help me, we need more of the latter more than ever.

Date: 2023-01-09 02:15 pm (UTC)I slowed down my activity on twi only staying for the porn until the artists leave b/c their art is stolen or they get harassed over men kissing. This sucks. I think artists are more than a website. More than twitter. Im eternally surprised when someone remembers a old picture I did. When I find a artist I followed 12 years ago. Websites die but art is eternal....
