tonight's blockbench adventures were AWESOME.

so I started this afternoon by deciding 'you know what, i'm going to make a chest crate that looks like it came out of FE9's background cg's. it's basically a modified box design, shouldn't be too hard to follow blockbench's basic 101 tutorial (they did a truck), and if it works, i can use it as a random background prop in both the birdman game or some silly knock off FE dollhouse esque nonsense lol.

the end result, about 1.5 hours later:

ta daaa! as mentioned on tumblr and mastodon, for somebody who has literally never touched blockbench, pixel art, or low poly in my entire life, the fact this was pretty easy to knock out in under two hours is jaw dropping. blockbench is so slept on. it even has a little module to record these easily giffable turntables for social media wtf!!!!

uuuunfortuantly, i got a little too creative after that step and borked the texture tileset (note to self: ALWAYS SAVE A COPY OF THE TEXTURES somewhere else so if you paint over it or some shit, u can just replace it), so all that painting work is gone lol :'D forever the lost lenore of my adventures here.

that said i feel super comfortable with this program now, and immediately dived into making that "sandbox" as mentioned in the last post, which'll hold all of the textures made in krita last week. I'm so excited. did a mini test already and these textures import SO well in terms of keeping the crispness and accuracy of the okami line work at teeny tiny texture sizes omg. if it weren't a work night where i had something big due tomorrow i'd easily stay up another 3 hours working on this.

i think there's going to be a west hill/bank with one texture, and then an eastern one with more of a brick wall texture and top, and a waterfall slash river on one end and then the other end being the entrance with the library wall and the stone like floor .... aaa!!
