the FE console game at home:

• i gotta say, the level design in this game is the best of the series for me, beats even radiant dawn (!!). the creativity here in terms of working around various gimmicks such as stairs dividing various platforms into individual stages (rainbow sage), the breaking poison/medicine pots with the stage itself giving you various buffs/debuffs, etc is just. really well done. where tf did those elements go with 3H?
  
  • averaging about one reset a map starting with ch10 on normal (still trying to learn Fate's weapon triangle and the whole pair up mechanism), but it's not even the least bit annoying since it makes me take a break for a day or a half to try to figure out what i would do differently. (thaaat said load/savestates probably helps with that, since i can effectively 'save' halfway through when i'm in a good spot....) 
• character wise, just vibing with my current crew though i'm warming up to elise unexpectedly? she's kind of the standard 'younger sibling genki girl' but there's flashes of moments like with milly in trigun where you're kinda wondering if half of it is a facade vs not (and if so, which half) leo is also way nicer than i thought he would be given my impression of him through fandom osmosis lol. one of my favorite translaters back in the day was a leo fan, (ammie - gave me my first zihark cipher cards after i went through some fandom drama and i drew soren and leo for her. one of those that has been offline for a long while, hope she's all right).
• the "story" is pretty. l o l. but there's something about the overall plot that i like in the sense it's telling you 'don't take me very seriously, this is all but a fanfic written by two teens trying to outdo each other with stupid silly sibling drama ideas, but focus instead on how messed up you can go with implications, backstories, and ships. go ham'.
  
  • like it's a good thing not all stories are like this but like how it's almost at this point - i have tellius if i want to take things mostly seriously but as i get older the more i crave sometimes, cracky, weird af horny stories just to be silly and extreme in. both r good!
• i ship camilia/f!corrin so much, man, she's so yandere. and her design is. so cool. bigly tiddies. but also so cool in the sense that she rides this badass GLOWY EYE DRAGON and shoots fireballs AND AXES, this is that 'horny fanfic (but lean into it unironically)' vibe i was mentioning above.
• speaking of teh horny, it is honestly wild remembering the Sheer Drama(tm) i vaguely remember when it first came out and i was checked out and fully in star wars land temporarily. i was mentioning to somebody in a server about just now looking up all the male skinship  (basically a mini-game where you manhandle your husbando/waifu and blow bath bubbles from them LMAO) translated lines, and how they were so horny. it straight up scandalized huge chunks of EN fandom (not to mention the underage incest bits) and that same somebody in the server remarked how Fates was kind of ahead of its time, because now a lot of games are like that, wheras Fates kinda was a trailblazer in the sense.
  
  • speaking of, watching fanthologies fall apart b/c of purity police while submerging into the game where a possessed double-incest underage ossan villain ship (gunter/f!corrin) is canon is so funny to me. lol. lmao even. :D (and yes i'll be drawing this one i've been waiting for a d e c a d e for this ossan tiddy)
