against my will i've been.... enjoying bluesky as of late. mostly for following the immense number of "new" international/JP artists i didn't know who existed (since my self imposed twitter exile since 2021).
see, the interesting thing is. i really really personally despised twitter unlike any other short form site because by the time i was truly active on it (2018ish? tumblr porn ban time) art harassers were already in horrifically full swing, curating/muting keyword controls were terrible, i was still grieving tumblr, i kept feeling like i had to make a "particular" kind of artwork. and just. nothing but bad, coercive, and antagonistic memories.
but i've heard bluesky now is very much like pre 2014 twitter, and more than once i've thought 'oh, if this is what twitter used to be like......... i can see why people had a soft spot for it'.
it's kind of ..... fun in the last week, just being silly and reblogging seriously cool art. i'm also a lot more emotionally mature / distant from any specific site and know how to aggressively play the numbers game while being emotionally honest with the art. (i don't draw for an audience, but reposting shamelessly will go a long way; you almost have to treat your own art like somebody else's like a cold agent, after it's posted.)
it won't last, of course. (though i am low key incredulous at hearing just how bad twitter's gotten. as soon as a platform starts treating me like an abusive person i'm out the door instantly. my time is infinity more precious than that.)
