anyway, serious hat back on. I'm not going to comment about the moderation choices and I'd like to not get in the weeds there (i have a horrible headache right now for one), but I am thinking next steps as an artist and that is:

1) I need to write down the CBLDF's lawyer numbers in multiple places. same with the EFF and Free Speech Coalition.
2) I need to get in the weeds of how AtProto works.
3) *groan* I really need to start thinking again about self hosting and discord alternatives this coming year.

It’s disturbing that it just keeps getting worse. I understand instances in which a law needs to clearly discuss when/how something could skirt the law and be used to harm, but that should not paint broad strokes over it. The over-targeting of anime/manga also makes it far too clear that this is at least in part a xenophobia issue, which I find far too few people talking about.

For a while there it almost felt like it was getting better! Here’s hope the lot of us artists who aren’t good perfect uwu babs survive the next book burning. (And I’ve already been systematically buying all the NSFW animanga I can get my greedy little hands on in the meantime, mostly from big box bookstores because, you know, those don’t count as obscenity apparently. Indie artists only, and all that.)

oh totally same hat and doing the same as you - there's some fakku/hentai purchases i'm making on the earlier side rather than later, since EN publishers of that type are probably next on the chopping block.

just feels distinctly disorienting in the sense how none of this really was an issue for tech infrastructure until the mid 10's or so - i mean, rotten dot com was a whole *thing* for ages and that was orders of magnitude more controversial with the real videos.
