kradeelavi remember distinctly having a 'milt kahl is overrated as an animator' hater phase for the longest time b/c my college was one of those Animation Snob Schools and people (faculty/students/professionals all) would not fucking shut up about him as being the greatest of disney's nine old men
(honestly i always thought the nine old men in general were overrated whereas the disney renaissance folks like andreas deja/glen keane/kathy zelinsky were way better - think the 90's animation classics)
but this last year i've been studying a lot of his work and have had. well. not a complete change of heart, but i see where people are coming from with his godly shape essentialisim plus body language. ain't many artists that can specialize in both without sacrificing one or the other.
anyway y'all poke me to write that 'i guess milt kahl isn't overrated after all from a former hater' essay sometime when i got time :P
