kradeelavat the end of the day what always stops me from making an anonymous politics/discourse/culture-war substack/blog is the chain of evidence for this type of essay being inherently de-anonymizing.
like....
i have a knack for being able to translate completely orthogonal social groups and hold them distinctly in the mind's eye that's separate from my own. my whole shtick is finding communication. as a chameleon, arcing individuals ever-towards nuance and humanity rather than de-humanization. (looks at my fave characters. looks at me. lol patterns.)
and any text evidence i could point to as being right (way back in the day) for these hypothetical essays or personal evidence would immediately out me (at minimum this handle) given my really weird collection of life experiences. without evidence to back up the thesis of the essays it's a "just trust me bro" vibes article and quite understandably most people are going to be very suspicious of that these days given AI slop and shills/ideological hustlers and everything going around.
much like physical disabilities i find the vast majority of people can only tolerate seeing one or two controversial thoughts to their own worldview.
and ultimately if i had one thing to be publicly controversial about and deeply sincere about, i'd rather it be my art? (which is already up there.)
that's always the final thought i keep coming back to. my art i think says what i ultimately would be wanting to say more nuance-ly than any essay (and is harder to misinterpret/hijack for personal obnoxious agendas). i have the training to make it technically/visually compelling. it's fun. i have a proven track record over decades for being consistent for the few things (importance of art freedoms etc) i say consistently (which gives a lower attack surface and matches enough to my inherent beliefs that it doesn't feel hypocritical). the subversively sleazy side of it is cathartic. there's worse vices.
