i know it's an unpopular opinion in these circles but i really miss the old pervert bro (usually a bro, sometimes a chick) archetype in anime. feels practically extinct in modern shows.

there's so many in gundam 0083 and i love them all even when they're objectively annoying and or lowkey are sexual harassers lol. usually the egregious ones get karmic payback or a whole arc of 'knock it off' learning from the school of hard knocks.

blah blah blah debate about noble perverts vs romanticizing blah blah blah.

just. shut it here for once. i miss them!!! as a chick! gasp! frankly i relate way more to these sleazeballs than the main cast. no i don't make a point of harassing people (why do i even have to say this), but i miss the sense that your basic ass human meatbag lust and skirt/dick/bits/etc chasing is a normal thing.

Haven't seen gundam, but you are right on the karmic paybacks. When these anime perverts appeared on screen saying or doing something pervert, there was a chance for immediate consequences: women slamming them into the walls or some shit. or breaking their face with a brick. I miss this unhingedness.

I started to watch actively animes when tsundere characters just became extremely popular. XDDD

also. it's hot. whatcanisay. i have a type.

i like to joke that there's a fun type of sexism in old anime and there's an unfun type of sexism. (and i don't think one is even actually sexism, i just think sometimes in pursuit of being pc things are sanitized to such an absurd extent that some of the horny fun goodness is just completely gone! and i miss her!!!)

for me, i think of the comparison between dragon age origins to da: the veilguard. dao has bestiality jokes! you go to a brothel! it's a silly funny thing! it's not the end of the world to have jokes like that! datv would never and honestly, it's a weaker game for it.

and look. you know me. i'm queer n i care about womens rights and all that but i can't stand the fact that things being "pc" feels like it's being used as a way to strip away so much of the interesting grime that was there in older things. it certainly makes me appreciate the old things more, and makes me absolutely thrilled at the rare new things that manage to be more pc/respectful of gender/sexuality/the like but still have that fun layer of grime.

(i'm going to mention pathfinder: wrath of the righteous here, because i have to and it's soo good for that sort of thing.)
