one of the very few reoccurring nightmares i have is my poor baby linux computer getting infected with an old school virus that forces it to turn into a windows OS. dramatic changes to the user interface and all while i look on helplessly and try to shut the power off.
like it's not the 'oh shit somebody's controlling my computer' bit that gets me tweaked, like how you'd think.
it's the fuckin. forcewindow'ed??? into windows thing???
?????????????????
me @ my subconscious: jesus christ you are a nerd lol (also an amazing M$ hater)

Date: 2025-06-11 11:21 pm (UTC)I joke, but I'd hypothesize that we're both a couple of people who have specific and uncommon but personally useful norms of existence and the brain is ruminating on the concept of forced conformity at the expense of quality of life. I'd imagine mine is vintage-flavored because that's when I felt most aware of my alienation from the norm, or something like that.

it is interesting how cousin-flavors of alienation can be so similar too. feel like that's what gives so much power to certian story or character arcs. seen in stories if not real life (since life can be a little too on-the-nose to look at too closely.) ngl i can see that being applicable for you where past and memory takes on extra meta-layers of meaning.
