kradeelavgot to (re)meet a really cool guy this past week, ex disney imagineer turned architect.
(he's the one designing my new office/chunks of the new family house, so... really excited about that. house stuff has been happening behind the scenes this past month, partly why I've been a little quiet; donating a shit ton of redundant stuff from my apartment that had been in storage for the last six years and downsizing for the move. hoping to break ground in october?).
i say 're" meet since this guy actually introduced me to wacom tablets ages ago; old family friend.
but i say this since he was telling me cool stories from his childhood; he was a heavy rockets nerd; straight up was creating homebrew rocket fuel in his bedroom in the late 1950's, almost died of a gas mixture gone wrong and had to crawl out from the home since that gas mix was lighter. and then he was apparently a little delinquent making homemade time bombs with a buddy until one blew off the buddy's hand when they were being careless - scared him straight enough that he turned to drawing/architecture rather than chemistry.
that had a more sad ending but at the same time, he's the kind of guy intellectually I want to steadily mature into. absolutely ferocious curiosity for everything, but genuinely kind. super hands on enthusiasm for real world crafts. you can tell there's so much wisdom in his mind but he listens to people with full attention no matter their skill level.
idk, love surrounding myself with folks like that.
(he loved my painted nendos too lol, i briefly got to explain / show them off since they were drying :p)
