the old tumblr list first:
- as mentioned before, alucard has a hell of a gun kink, as does integra. integra’s more into the aesthetics and the psychology and thrill of the fear (remnants of her uncle hunting her), wheras he would call it a good day if he legit gets shot a few times, just by dint of the physical action.
- i have my more long-winded boring reasons-with-citations for feelin’ his: mostly ping-ponging between his complicated feelings about his regeneration and it being coupled with his need for degradation and pain play and, you know, general monster existentialist inferiority complex bullshit that pops up in interesting ways re: libido given - well.)
- (you know. the usual.)
- integra has the blood kink of the crew to a T, and is in denial about it like a decent protestant churchgoin’ lady that’s not rattlin’ the pews with the devil at the same time.
- this, uh, is not spawned by any logical reasoning but is 60% too many ‘he happily feeds on her Once A Month If You Know What I Mean™’ fics in the heyday and 29% that goddamn Seras licking scene perfection.
- There’s a 1% ‘i have a bloody vampire lord boytoy did you not think i was going to have a blood kink’ too.
- alucard is, literally - by definition - a masochist which feeds into the above in a big way. i still have an obscene fondness for the ‘overdramatic goth power bottom’ description, too. (which neatly explains me drawing him as a sub 90% of the time unlike the rest of fandom lol)
- tbh they don’t pay much attention to anything along the lines of strict D/s tomfoolery - that’s more the window dressing and just the basic nature of his seals and their general power dynamics - which i imagine would blur as he comes back years later. old!teggy + alucard is a very different beast than young!teggy + him in hard-to-parse ways… mm - more confident in their intimacy?
(one would be mistaken to assume that the former is no less randy tho)- seras is freakier than you’d expect! cute moeblobs have a tendency to hide their kinkier sides quite well out of habit, and once when over the surprise pip is … not displeased about that. (hilariously he’s probably the most vanilla of the quartet, and gets his ego wounded for about .01 seconds before realizing the advantages of such a situation. )
now the real meat:
- alucard privately and badly wants to die and in fact his happiest ending is allowing him to do so after integra's passed, and the next generation of hellsingers take over. (eg, seras & pip)
I haven't quite been yelled at for this one but it's been close. I've touched before on a sort of morbidly-funny personal favorite trope of mine of immortals who can't die (and want to) as a fantastic genre of psychological/body horror that goes underappreciated, and I think Alucard fits well here, both with the themes that hellsing deal with and his general character arc of ... atonement?
it'd be a cruel thing indeed to make him keep going after his Master passes, with everything that's happened - and not that hellsing deals in straight happy endings, but there's a sense of karma to it all. he deserves his final rest too, after so much bloodshed.
This fic of Alucard carrying out his Master's final order is probably the most accurate way I see those final moments go down for her, incidentally.

The second half of this one is more of a pet peeve; it's gotten to the point I actually feel uncomfortable drawing him as anything but a die-hard sub as the alucard in my head just... it's not him. sure, he's got one of the most incredibly powerful id-charisma vibes around, that's canon - and I think people in the audience respond to that and project a bit of that as a fantasy. which isn't bad, I've absolutely been guilty of that projection in different franchises when it wasn't in-character (sephiroth in a big way lol); but!
Actually drawing a zine/short story right now where he bootblacks for Integra as a ritual of sorts, when she puts on her "uniform" for the first time and it ends up as a rite of passage into adulthood from "girl" to "woman-knight". and uh, there's a vampire-sub-quasi-lover bootblack for you in a pretty screamingly sexual display of loyalty. pretty heady despite nobody taking their clothes off! if anything clothes are being put on lol!
the most interesting thing about this zine, though - is I'm mentally drawing it from Alucard's perspective, now.
I got stuck on this zine a few times when I was drawing it from integra's perspective at first, thinking that was more, mm relateable? palatable? to the general audience and hell, even myself. it's a fun perspective but ultimately was a mistake, as the real buzz was from his side here and how much that capital-S-service fills a real hole in his soul that religion had left.
(I wonder how many ex fundies turn to kink.) [sudden pikachu-face expression ]
the dude doesn't have a lot to live for. and his mind, to borrow from a phrase of a slice of hellsing fandom, is a smashed bag of crabs. he's gotta live for something, and imo he's always been a kinky bastard ... but integra's dynamic with him allows him to finally indulge in the one last sacred space of his mind he has left. that pure, almost nameless profound devotion, fealty, headiness of subspace ...
he's an unholy being - he knows that to his bones, and that Christianity would forever reject him as one. what's more apt than choosing a similar divine devotion to a Master with the one language he knows?

- There's "lost episode" of hellsing in my head where the three of them (seras, integra, alucard) post-timeskip investigate an abandoned oil rig in the bermuda triangle and end up running into Cthulhu. the Major is in there somewhere. :D (Thinking as a deconstruction of the "Nazis flee to Argentina" trope, incidentally).
