2023 resolution time ~

long-time readers will know I picked up a tradition when this journal was back on tumblr (carrying over into here), to do resolutions at the end of every year. :)
a quick summary of last year's ...
doing the twitter / tumblr hiatus was surprisingly easy with all of that personal drama going around, and after I finish marketing FALKE, it'll be a delight to go back to that quiet existence. one unexpected thing was I got astonishingly better about people-and-task-ing between my journal/to-do list, which had the interesting side effect of also reducing previous anxiety to a fraction of what it used to be. despite being a genuinely hard year emotionally and physically, I'm hands-down leaving this a much happier and self-improved person than where I started ... a good feeling.
this next year ...
a quick summary of last year's ...
Move out, v2Redo the dayjob portfolio/resume- be kind to yourself; it's okay to feel things again
- continue to be aggressive about self sustainment. keep offline connections, keep staying offline. inbox zero / journaling
- art: keep that capricorn project manager energy going. Keep saying "no" to favors unless if you really, really want to do the thing.
- survive eye surgeries + additional almost-surgery
- get therapy for longstanding medical Brain Junk
- survive the first year of being a people-manager (and office-minion loving her job still)
- finished falke
- complete migration to linux / retire 13 year old laptop
- do my first paid talk / speaking opportunity

this next year ...
- *move out v2, for real this time - I am getting privately cranky with my current living space in ways i've elaborated on some other f!locked posts, so this will definitely be a goal now that the recovery's done with. there are ... complications with this given the roommate can't be just anyone off the street, but I did it once before in the old apartment and I'll just have to trust Fate that it can be done again, my inclinations towards pessimistic apathy be damned.
- set up gaming emulation library, and start playing! :D - i need to relax a little, get back in my old groove of gaming on pre-2005 games ~ hoping that now with the move to linux + obtaining a joystick + controller, that this can happen in a fun way. both portals, star fox 64, super mario 64, SW:Starfighter I & II, Silent Hill, etc - are among the many, many games on the backlog.
- set up pi-hole - this sounds like SUCH a small thing but the whole family and I have been complaining about devices listening in to conversations that they shouldn't have access too. hoping that this will cut down on that.
- finish What Greater Sin (hellsing zine) - it's 50% done as-is and I'm still riding on that high of completing falke ... would love to knock out another decently large and saucy comic project, to start fleshing out the store.
- finish 2 other existing zines / art projects - trying to narrow down the list of things that I said I'd do / still want to do before opening up some new ones ~ in an abstract, I'm using these to grow the stamina again to do longer projects like iron crown again. not there yet, but here's hoping that things will start pushing in that direction ~
- start the reading list again now that my eyes are back - I MISS reading. I still need my close-up glasses (in the process of obtaining them), but am hoping this will keep me offline, and god knows the reading backlog is getting a wee bit scary. the good news is I managed to scrape together a crude reading list from old goodreads / openlibrary data, so eventually cleaning that up and filling it out will be easy.
- *keep journaling consistently for the 2nd year in a row - this has been such a boon for mental health in general that other than moving out, is the one thing that I 100% want to do even if nothing else happens.
- redo the dayjob portfolio / resume - what it says on the tin. shouldn't be too hard, just that I've done a lot of cool stuff since becoming a manager that it needs to be updated. :)
