kradeelavhappy nagamas, seasaltmemories :) my apologies for how late it is, only hope it does justice to your mind ~
seasalt had the amazing prompt of "what is Micaiah and Sothe's whole deal after Tibarn almost drops him off a cliff, and how do they resolve it? (if they do?)".
While planning this strip, something that congealed pretty quickly was "what if Sothe offers Micaiah a white lie for both of them, just so they can keep moving forward emotionally as one unit as there's a war going on?". In a sense, it's also nudging a little into how her Sight isn't only just an advantage, it can be an emotional disadvantage as some others, even her closest partners, could assume that she knows more than she actually does, and assumptions never helped any relationship.
on a funnier level, sothe's hair absolutely killed me. :joy: could NOT, even until the very end, figure out how it works. i was moaning to queenlua (finger guns :D) as a beta several times about how absolutely impossible of a disaster it is. the closest i got to figuring it out was accidentally seeing some old 90's Gambit fanart and almost laughing out loud how strikingly similar it was. :)
this is a pretty abstract strip compared to my usual fare! probably most similar to my old, old Reaper (Overwatch) strip that went viral years ago.
something i really wanted to illustrate beyond the initial question of how their dynamic survived the Aftermath was Micaiah's feelings that she had blood on her hands in such a heavy visceral way; in a sense, Sothe's blood is very literally on her hands. I also wanted to show the slight change from "muddy/messy/morally grey" vibes and colors at the top transforming into something a lot starker, stark red and black, to showcase that 'black/white' sort of ... extreme morality that she sets on her own shoulders as a mantle, (a false choice of sorts) and how that lie almost reinforces that there are only heroes and villains. lot of very fun metaphors you could cloak her with!
on a technical sense I was using this as several experiments for what krita can do both in terms of ink and color - some worked, some didn't, but this being my first "big" project done from start to finish in the new program, mission accomplished altogether. there are some things I probably would have done differently in hindsight, but it was one of those projects that kept threatening to go way outside of its scope, and was already quite a large bite to chew (effectively 6-7 mini illusts), so rather happy with how it came out as is. :)

I feel so pleasantly bamboozled. Man do I love both you and the art <3
